In search of the Aloha Spirit, May 2010, Hawaii 5-O trip.

16 days around Waikiki ~ O'hau and Makena ~ Maui.

We were very fortunate to be guided round Maui by Jacob and Sharon Mau, Jacob is native Hawaiian and in his eighties, made the trip very educational. i believe that we got to see things that most tourists would miss without an expert guide.

1. Pa'ako Beach Gold Rush

Shot on Pa’ako Beach (AKA, Secret Cove, Wedding Beach) Makena, Maui the night before we left, just had to have one more visit to this magical cove, this is paradise, you can keep your white sand beaches, give me the pure gold sands of Makena any day. When the sun sets everything gets the most sensational warm golden glow.


2. Kama'ole Pastel Dawn Surge

Shot on Kama'ole beach 2, view towards Lani island on the left and Lahaina to the right backed by the west Maui mountains, the light on the mountains is coming through the flat area of the island fro Kahului to Maalaea which just gave enough time to light up the cloud sitting over west maui forest reserve.


3. Makena Gold

Pa'ako beach somewhere in Makena and half way to paradise, a place where dreams come true and memories are made, a place where heaven shrouds the sea in golden light, I dare to dream. View towards Kahoolawe island on left and Molokini island on the right. Last light at Pa’ako beach, Makena, Maui, (AKA, Secret Cove, Wedding Beach)
